Cycling Art Display- Gosford To coincide with the 2008 Beijing Games, an eclectic mix of Chinese bicycle art and photos will be on display at the Where for Art Thou Gallery, Gosford Town Centre, from 4-9 August, as part of The Beijing Bicycle Art and Photo Exhibition. Supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney, the free exhibition will feature over 50 Chinese bicycle art pieces, as well as local and international bicycle art and photography. Mayor of Gosford City, Clr Jim Macfadyen said, “In the build-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, this exhibition is an opportunity to reflect on the history of the bicycle in China as a main mode of transport.” Clr Macfadyen said he hoped the exhibition, along with other Council initiatives like the Central Coast Cycling Guide and the continuing development of cycleways, helped to create a sense of bike culture in the Gosford CBD. “With only one percent of people commuting to work in Gosford via bicycle as at 2006 (ABS Census Data), Council is committed to promoting cycling as an alternative transport option in the Gosford CBD, in accordance with Council’s Vision 2025 and Gosford CBD revitalisation strategies.” Clr Macfadyen encourages anyone keen to experience bicycle culture or to just be a part of the fever of the Beijing Games to attend the exhibition. The exhibition is hosted by Gosford City Council, Gosford Town Centre, Xing Book Store and the Chinese Art Society.
