Explain these races

Sprint- FNWTR sprints are usually run as 4-6 ups over 3 laps the first few laps are usually spent sizing your opponents up and positioning yourself for the optimum explosion to the finish. It is not uncommon for a sneaky rider to attack early in the hope of holding a lead to the finish. The sprint is a test of power, speed and above all, tactics.

Winners Race- The race is over 16 laps. There is a sprint with 13laps to-go, the winner of this sprint qualifies for the final sprint, however he/she must continue to race, keeping a close eye on the winners of the sprints with 10, 7 and 4 Laps to go. Each of these riders also qualifies for the final sprint. With 4 laps to go all non-qualifying riders must withdraw from the race. Leaving a 4 up sprint to decide the final placing.  You can work out all the tactics on this one.

 SERIES

  • The Hillbrick series is a separate point-score over selected events
  • The Hillbrick events will be well balanced between sprint and endurance events.
  • Riders will score 5, 3, 2 and 1 points for 1st to 4th in any grade of a Hillbrick series event (not including Div 5)

·         Felice from cycling projects has once again shown his support for Australian grass-roots racing in sponsoring RAW Track for the forth year in concession.

·         Cycling Projects are the Australian distributor of Campagnolo. Simply the classiest ensembles ever to grace the cycling industry (Track or Road)

·         Campagnolo will be the sponsor of the final night Wheel-race September 19

·         You must qualify for this wheel-race.

·         Cycling projects are also the Australian distributor of Veloflex tyres

·         To put it in simple terms, these are not the most durable tyres ever made but if you want to go FAST than these are the tyres that will allow you to go your fastest.

·         Veloflex will sponsor a number of Wheel-races through-out 2008

·         Greg, master wheel-builder from Twe wheels has informed me that all RAW Track Twe Wheel-sets prizes will be specifically built to the requirements of the winners.

·         Twe wheels are built to the rider’s needs and requirements; ask yourself this, “who built the wheels you are racing on now?”

·         If you can’t answer this simple question you may not be getting the best out your equipment.

·         Take a look at this picture, than take a second look at the front wheel.

  • Vivienne from Chiropaedic sent me an email during the week to say that she assessed 9 riders at FNWTR last week and is looking forward to assessing more this week Free of charge
  • Vivienne has told me that even an easily rectified minor alignment problem can result in 1-5 percent loss of power!
