Masters Commission

The Masters Commission has been established by Cycling NSW to represent the interests of male and female Masters.

In particular, the Commission’s responsibilities include –

          - a forum for Masters cyclists to raise any issue for discussion, and referral to the Cycling NSW Executive as appropriate

- ensure that both State & National Technical Regulations meet the needs of Masters, and promote change if necessary

- ensure the proper conduct of annual State Championships (Track & Road)

- promote and organize the World Masters Games (Track & Road) in 2009

- assist with special projects as directed from time to time by Cycling NSW

The Masters Commission meets monthly, in a Sydney CBD location (not the Dunc Gray Velodrome), and Masters members are most welcome to attend this open forum. For further details on the next meeting please contact Mike O’Reilly on 0417 403 244.

NSW Masters Club Shield 2008 – Congratulations to Hunter District CC

The Masters Club Shield was introduced by Cycling NSW for the first time at the 2008 Road & Criterium Championships held at Port Macquarie, and will be awarded each year going forward.

Starting points are awarded to each starter in each Masters category plus points are awarded for each Championship result (road race is the first ten placings, criterium is the first five placings). Where categories are combined due to insufficient riders in a category to make up a Championship then points will only be awarded on the combined Championship event.

The 2009 Masters Road & Criterium Championships will be held at Moruya (near Batemans Bay).

The Masters Club Shield combined both road and criterium results on the following basis -

Road Race Championships

Start = 5 points, Results (1st to 10th)  = 30, 25, 20, 15, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5

Criterium Championships

Start = 3 points, Results (1st to 5th) = 20, 15, 12, 10, 9

The pointscore tally for the 2008 Masters Club Shield can be located at the following link. Club Shield Point Tally

·         WMG retail & sponsorship opportunities

·         There are excellent retail and sponsorship opportunities for the cycle industry to provide both retail and repair/workshop facilities at the WMG. The WMG is forecast to attract 3,000 entrants, and will be held just before the World Masters Track Championships in October 2009. This is a great retail opportunity for a pro-active sponsor.
